WEST MICHIGAN’S VALLEY CITY ELECTRONIC RECYCLING RECEIVES B CORP CERTIFICATION
VCER is one of only a few Michigan companies honored with exclusive B Corp designation
Kentwood, Mich., July 11, 2018 -- West Michigan’s Valley City Electronic Recycling (VCER) announced it is a certified “Benefit Corporation,”an exclusive designation that honors businesses with positive environmental and social impacts in society. VCER received its B Corp certification on June 25 after completing the nearly 7-month extensive certification process.
“B Corp has been on my radar ever since I purchased VCER six years ago. However, at the time there were too many other things we had to do to the business and we didn’t necessarily have all the resources that are needed to complete the process of attaining the B Corp certification,” Valley City Electronic Recycling President Jason Kehr said. “We have always followed the ‘People, Planet, Profit’ model of business, which is evident in in everything we do.”
The global third-party nonprofit, B Lab, honors for-profit businesses with the B Corp designated seal after the business has met the rigorous criteria that measures social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. There are more than 2,500 certified B Corps worldwide within over 130 industries. In Michigan, Valley City Electronic Recycling is one of 16 B Corps.
B Corp companies all have one common goal: creating a purpose-driven business that benefits all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
