Continuing in its commitment to be a leading electronics recycling provider Valley City is proud to announce that it has received the Responsible Recycling Practices for Electronics Recyclers, R2:2013 Certification along with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
The Recycling Practices Standard, known as R2, requires implementation of an environmental, health and safety management system incorporating best practices for worker health and safety, data destruction and security, the environment, domestic and international downstream management of end-of-life electronic material and equipment.
R2 is particularly focused on electronics that contain cathode ray tubes, circuit boards, items containing mercury/PCBs, and batteries - seeking to ensure that these materials are not incinerated or land filled.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) facilitated development of R2 in a stakeholder process including representatives from federal and state governments, electronics manufacturers, electronics refurbishing and recycling professionals, and trade associations.
Valley City earned the certification following multiple extensive audits by an ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board third-party auditor Perry Johnson Registrars.
